| | | Dear Journey Community, Mental Health Awareness Month is the perfect time to spotlight an important issue that impacts us all. Mental well-being is fundamental to our overall well-being, yet it is often overlooked or misunderstood. Mental health disorders are far more common than many realize. In fact, 1 in 5 adults in the United States experience some form of mental health concern each year. From anxiety and depression to trauma and addiction, these challenges can have a profound effect on our daily lives, relationships, and overall quality of life. This Mental Health Awareness Month, we encourage you to take a step back and reflect on your mental wellness. What can you do to improve it? What resources or support systems do you have? Remember, your mental well-being is just as vital as your physical health—treat it with the same care and consideration. Let's make this Mental Health Awareness Month a time to celebrate the importance of mental health and commit to taking care of ourselves and each other. Warm regards, Journey Mental Health Center | | | | | | OPUS Art Exhibit By Melissa Lipska, Director of Development and Donor Relations | | | | We are excited to invite you to an art exhibit and reception at the Goodman Community Center Brassworks Building, 214 Waubesa St., Madison, WI, on May 18th. We’re co-hosting this event with a gracious community member, Monica Radtke, and proceeds will benefit the incredible work Journey Mental Health Center is doing in the community. Stop by the Opus Art Exhibit anytime between 6 pm and 10 pm. The beautiful art pieces will be available for auction, so you can support Journey and enjoy new artwork. During the art exhibit, special activities will be available for folks to intentionally reflect on Mental Health Awareness Month. By lighting a luminary in memory of a loved one who has passed away, in support of someone facing challenges, or in honor of a special person in our lives, we symbolically light the way from hope to recovery. Each luminary serves as a beacon of love, remembrance, and strength, reminding us that even in the darkest times, there is light and hope ahead. Also, join us for a special reception at 6:30 pm featuring Don’t Cook for Cowboys’ charcuterie-style food, refreshments, and art therapy activities. “Don’t Cook for Cowboys” began in the winter of 2022 when two pals were going through heartache and reconnecting through food and intentional time with friends and family. With a mutual love for thrifting, curating spaces, sharing meals, and building community, this evolved into throwing eclectic dinner parties for their loved ones and their community. Space is limited, and RSVPs are required for the reception, as we anticipate it will sell out. Your kindness and support mean the world to us. We truly appreciate your commitment to our cause and hope to see you there. | | | | | | Sneak Peak of Journey Shop | | Prepare to make a statement and support a cause close to our hearts!
