This training is for anybody who wants to learn more about highly sensitive children and may be especially beneficial for mental health practitioners working with or advocating for children, caregivers, or families. The training is facilitated by a highly sensitive person who has a keen ability to recognize the trait in children and a passion for helping others identify and understand the gifts and challenges of high sensitivity. The training will provide foundational research about sensory processing sensitivity, how to identify it in children, and implications for treatment. Additionally, we will explore our own assumptions about and relationship with sensitivity. *This training will provide 3.0 Continuing Education hours. NBCC/ACEP #6760.
*Journey Mental Health Center has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6760. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credits are clearly identified. Journey Mental Health Center is solely responsible for all aspects of this program.

Kimby Shult Hughes, MS, LMFT
In 2011, Kimby Shult Hughes completed her Master of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy and is currently pursuing her Doctorate in Education where she researches trauma-informed pedagogy and pre-service teacher preparation. Though clinically trained to work with individuals, couples, and families, Kimby currently devotes most of her time toward school-based interventions for youth impacted by trauma and related mental health needs. She works within the REST (Resilient response to the Effects of Stress and Trauma) Program at Journey Mental Health Center. Kimby has a heart for justice, proactive collaboration, and wholistic care. She utilizes her decade of experience in the non-profit world, knowledge of organizational development, clinical expertise, and research training to promote equity-centered mental health care for youth in Dane County.
