Join Sarah Henrickson, MSSW, LCSW and Nancy Pierce, MA, LCSW in this training intended to help clinicians learn best practice in suicide risk assessment. This training will offer 4.0 CE hours *NBCC/ACEP #6760, for eligible participants. Participants will become familiar with chronic and acute risk factors for suicide, protective factors for suicide, and how to formulate an overall level of suicide risk based on these factors. In addition, participants will learn when to screen for suicide risk, how to talk with individuals who may be suicidal to assess risk, and how to document the suicide risk assessment process.

At the end of this training, participants will be able to:
*Journey Mental Health Center has been approved by NBCC as an Approved Continuing Education Provider, ACEP No. 6760. Programs that do not qualify for NBCC credits are clearly identified. Journey Mental Health Center is solely responsible for all aspects of this program.
Presenter Bios:
Nancy Pierce, MA, LCSW has been working in the field of crisis intervention for the past forty-five years. She assesses and manages suicide risk of children, adults and elderly and serves as a mental health consultant for law enforcement, courts, hospitals, human service and counseling agencies on emergency detentions and other mental health crises. She provides training and consultation on assessing and managing risk of suicide, violence, acute mental illness, involuntary hospitalization and on finding alternatives to hospitalization. For the past five years, Nancy has also been providing trainings on ethics and boundaries, Chapter 51, Wisconsin’s Mental Health and Substance abuse statutes and working with rural communities on youth mental health crises.
Sarah Henrickson, MSSW, LCSW has over 25 years of experience in the mental health field. As a Crisis Worker with Journey Mental Health since 2000, she provides community-based crisis intervention services to all ages, including suicide risk assessments, and evaluations for involuntary psychiatric admissions. Sarah additionally functions as the Law Enforcement Liaison for Journey, collaborating with Dane County Law Enforcement agencies to ensure effective communication and best practices. Since 2016, Sarah has served as an embedded Crisis Worker with the Madison Police Department. She has conducted numerous trainings for law enforcement, clinicians, and other community members on a variety of topics including mental illness, suicide risk, and mental health civil commitment law.
