Presenter Bios:
Sherie Hohs, MSSW (she/her/hers)
Sherie Hohs is a passionate community activist, believer in inclusion, and an advocate for LGBTQIA+ youth. Sherie has been a leader in the Madison Metropolitan School District for the last 17 years; 10 years as a school-based Social Worker and the last 7 as the LGBTQIA+ Lead. In this role, she has the important role of advocating for policies that uplift LGBTQIA+ people, providing professional development focused on the inclusion of diverse LGBTQIA+ identities, building meaningful community partnerships, advancing youth leadership, and protecting the rights of LGBTQIA+ students and their families. When she isn't fighting for social justice, she enjoys spending her time backpacking through Latin America, playing volleyball, and frolicking around with her bulldogs.
Jennifer Herdina (she/her/hers)
Jennifer Herdina is the Welcoming Schools Lead for the Madison Metropolitan School District in Madison, WI. During her 13 years as an early elementary classroom teacher, Jennifer saw first-hand the power of the Welcoming Schools program in creating an inclusive classroom environment and supporting LGBTQ+ students. In her current position, Jennifer provides district-wide support of the Welcoming Schools Program through professional development, facilitating team meetings, lesson modeling, teacher mentoring, and more. She is passionate about social justice and works to highlight the importance of intersectional identities. In her free time, Jennifer enjoys spending time with her husband and three children, hiking, playing volleyball, and relaxing with friends.
