Whether you are new to the field or a seasoned professional, this workshop will provide information related to a strengths-based lens in our mental health work. Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SBFT), also known as Solution Focused Therapy (SFT), was developed by Insoo Kim Berg and Steve de Shazer in collaboration with their colleagues at the Milwaukee Brief Therapy Center in the early 1970s. SBFT is future-focused and goal-directed, with a focus on solutions rather than problems. It incorporates aspects of positive psychology principles and practices, helping clients create change by constructing solutions instead of focusing on the problems.
Today’s workshop will focus on some of SFBT's main tenets and ways they can easily be incorporated into our current work with our consumers.
Learning Objectives:
Participants will:
1. Have a clearer understanding of what is Solution Focused Brief Therapy (SFBT).
2. Increase their knowledge on some of the main concepts related to SFBT.
3. Deepen their understanding and comfort about engaging in SFBT applications.
